Route ideas

From San Jose Bike Party Wiki

Here are some ideas for possible routes and destinations for the Bike Party. Keep in mind that all destinations need to somehow be within our reach (i.e. 10-20mi including a round-trip back to either Campbell or downtown San Jose).

• Round trip to downtown Los Gatos and back - via Bascom one way, Winchester the other.
  • Done in April 2009, I believe. Nice ride!
• Any ride that takes us to a huge field where we can play an enormous game of something ridiculous
  • Tough to arrange...local PD's not so happy with large gatherings that don't disperse, and how would we avoid trashing the field?
• Sunnyvale bridge-when completed
  • Done in May 2009 - very nice.
• A weekend day ride so we can see everyones bikes in the daylight.

• SJ BIKE PARTYY INVADES SARATOGA/Mountain View/Cupertino/Sunnyvale.
  • Mt. View/Sunnyvale: September 2009, check.
  • Saratoga: not since our March 2008 Prospect -> Saratoga -> Hwy 9 -> Los Gatos -> Creek Trail ride...that was a bit of a flop, most people bailed after the ride reached Saratoga due to the hill.
• Ride through Guadalupe park trail, Chavez park, south first st or the club district parking structure.
• Ride through Los Gatos Creek Trail AND Guadalupe River/Park Trail.
  • This is probably no longer possible - we used to do this when we had <100 riders, but once we topped 200 it started becoming really dangerous. With over 1000, it seems suicidal.
